Resource center offers programs

DEARBORN — The Marriage Resource Center of Wayne County offers a host of programs to help couples strengthen their relationships.

Among them are:

  • PREP, or Preventive and Relationship Enhancement Program: It's for engaged and married couples who want to avoid or eliminate the frustrations that creep into a marriage. It focuses on communication skills, and is offered on the second Friday of the month.

  • FOCUS, or Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding and Study: It's a checklist that covers the range of elements needed for a successful marriage.

  • How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk(ette): It's for young singles tired of being stuck with Mr. or Miss Wrong. The class will teach how to not make the same mistakes again.

  • Ten Great Dates to Energize Your Marriage: The video curriculum gives couples tips on how to build their marriage and enrich their relationship.

  • Active Military Life Skills: It's for single or married military personnel and gives tips on how to manage a career and everyday life.

  • Active Marriage and Best Practices for Healthy Relationships: Participants can be single or married. The workshop teaches practical tools.

  • Active Money Personalities/Managing the Differences and Making Cents: Participants get a look at the varying ways people view money and, with a sense of humor and greater perspective, understand how they fit into the grand scheme.

Several other workshops are offered, as well.

The Marriage Resource Center of Wayne County is at 23400 Michigan Ave., Suite P18. Its telephone number is 1-313-278-4400 and its Web site is www.mimarriage.org.
