Last-minute quick fixes

Even the best-planned wedding may be dotted with some unforeseen obstacles.

The last thing a bride wants to deal with on her wedding day is a fashion or cosmetic crisis. Rather than worry, follow these tips from Pampered Pink to tackle challenging feminine obstacles -- from makeup mayhem to relief for a stressful day.

  • Fashion emergencies. Do you have a loose hem or a strap that won't stay in place? Apply double-stick tape or fabric fastener to hold these items in place. You also may want to compile an emergency kit, like the Fashion 9-1-1 kit offered by Pampered Pink. The portable pouch contains an emergency sewing kit, clear nail polish, black marker, double-sided tape, eyeglass screwdriver and a nail file.

There also is a pamphlet full of "how-tos" to help any diva in distress.

  • Put your best face forward. Puffy eyes, unsightly pimples and more can dampen a bride's wedding day beauty regimen. Minimize pimples by applying toothpaste at night, which shrinks breakouts and makes them less noticeable.

The old tried-and-true home remedy of placing cucumber slices on the eyes still can reduce eye puffiness.

To keep your makeup fresh, learn the ropes with Cosmetic Catastrophe by Pampered Pink for the makeup application that needs more pizzazz.

  • A relaxed bride is a happy one. In the days before your wedding, indulge in some relaxation techniques. Try a yoga or Pilates routine, listen to soothing music or take long walks to clear your mind of wedding-day worries. A warm bath reminiscent of a spa also can soothe and relax you.

  • Freshen your body. Although body odor and sweating are usually taboo topics among women, brides and their attendants likely worry about it -- especially during warm-weather weddings.

Fresh After Five by Pampered Pink is an all-natural, time-release capsule that provides sustained odor protection for the entire body. The product is the brainchild of Tara Harper, who began researching the idea after serving as a bridesmaid in a hot, Texas wedding.

Recent research questions the safety of aluminum found in most deodorants, making this product both a safe and effective alternative to deodorant. As an added benefit, it does not leave unsightly "white spots" on your dress.

If you want extra protection, apply a small amount of baby powder to areas prone to sweat, including your palms. For more information on wedding preparation tips or bridesmaid gifts, visit www.pamperedpink.com or www.freshafterfive.com.
